The FIND Three-Day Law Enforcement training is designed for Law Enforcement detectives/investigators who want to increase their knowledge about the needs of crime victims with disabilities and want to learn about the most effective investigative steps to take when called to handle a matter involving a victim and/or witness with disabilities. The training is grounded in law enforcement best practices with considerations and adaptations to account for individual disability, mental health disorder, language capacity, and cultural background. This training will provide detectives/investigators with investigative strategies that will empower them to perform thorough and complete investigations that will be viable for prosecution as applicable. Attendees will learn to identify and properly interpret unique items of evidentiary value specific to this population and will be introduced to the available resources that will support the investigative process. Legal considerations and special cases often unique to this population will be discussed.
